It’s time to reorganize

The Virginia Democratic Party requires its local committees to reorganize every two years.  In Floyd we will do this next at an assembled caucus on Saturday, Dec. 14, at the Jessie Peterman Memorial Library, 321 W. Main St., Floyd. The Community Room will open at 10:30 a.m. and the meeting start at 11 a.m.

We encourage every Democrat who is registered to vote in Floyd County to attend. There is no filing fee for membership. Participants will be required to sign a Caucus Participation Form stating that they:

  1. Are a Democrat,
  2. Are a registered voter within the county,
  3. Believe in the principles of the Democratic Party, and
  4. Do not intend to support any candidate opposed to a Democratic nominee in the next election.

The first and immediate duty of the committee will be to elect officers from among themselves to lead party activity.  The offices to be filled this date are chairman, vice-chairman, secretary, and treasurer.

Anyone wishing to serve as a committee member should print out and complete THIS APPLICATION, and either bring it to the reorganization caucus or mail it to: Floyd County Democrats, P.O. Box 627, Floyd, VA 24091. Mailed forms must be received by 5 p.m. Dec. 13 to be considered.
