Medicare for all — or not?

For more than a century, American thinkers and activists have dreamed of a universal plan of health care. Democrats led the way in two big steps with the adoption of Medicare under President Johnson and the Affordable Care Act under President Obama. Both plans have notable limitations.

The dream persists, and it’s reflected – though not quite embraced – in the platform of Terry McAuliffe as he seeks a return as governor of Virginia. Now, in a Virgina-based forum on Thursday, you have a chance to hear distinguished experts describe a path that could go yet further – to establish a single-payer system of Medicare for all.

This forum will be conducted in public on Facebook at 7 p.m. October 7. You may sign up to participate here: https://www.facebook.com/events/330214175567050/?active_tab=about
